The service that was paid for was completed, I also took pictures of damaged drive belt & oil leaks, this was explained to the customer including showing her the piece of drive belt that had been found in engine bay during the inspection. The customer was also contacted prior to her returning to collect the vehicle, to try and explain that further repairs were needed but her phone went to voice mail. When the customer returned to pick up the vehicle, I explained to her that the drive belt will need replacing as it would not last the trip home which was 250km away. She said she cannot afford it as she had already paid for the service through auto guru on afterpay and had no more money. She then tried to say that I had caused the damage to her vehicle as she had no problem with her vehicle until she brought it into us for the service, which was not the case as pictures had been taken as evidence to show her, these pictures are taken on all services to show the customers the faulty parts & recorded on their invoices for future reference. She then dicided to try drive home with the damaged drive belt which let go a few blocks from the workshop. She noticed this as the battery light came on and the vehicle started over heating as the drive belt ran the alternator & water pump. On her return she accused me again of damaging her vehicle which was not the case as explained to her several times before her leaving. She then decided to have the drive belts replaced which I done straight away as not to inconvenience her anymore. Once this was completed, she was messaged again to inform her the vehicle was ready. This whole situation could have been avoided if she just listened to me in the first place & changed the drive belts. I have been dealing with customers for over thirty years so there is nothing wrong with my people skills, some customers just don't want to listen to or take experienced advice as they think they know better. I do understand that she supposedly had no money to replace the drive belts but miraculously found not only the money for the drive belts but for a whole lot of other shopping goods when she arrived to pick her vehicle up. ... view more
