The day after the car was serviced we noticed it had leaked oil onto our garage floor. I lifted the bonnet and notice that oil was polled on the plastic spray guard that bolts on below the motor and which should be removed before oil is changed and the oil filter was replaced. This had not occurred obviously and oil was dripping of the spray guard. I jacked the car up and got under it to remove and clean the spray guard which was covered in oil. This took about 40 minutes. I also noticed at this point that the oil filter was a Phoenix brand when I was told that it would be either a ryco or wesfil brand which area more expensive part. As a first time visit to this mechanic after always having had a dealer service on the car this is very disappointing. ... view more

Hi Paul, I am very sorry to hear about the experience you had with us. I did the service myself on your car a few days ago. By accident I spilled oil onto the tray and thought I cleaned it all up but must have missed a spot. I do really apologize about this. There was no oil leak present after servicing and from where the car was parked on our premises awaiting to be picked up otherwise I would have contacted you myself. As for your filter we honestly had no idea that you were told there will be either a Ryco or Wesfil branded oil filter fitted to your car otherwise this would have been no issue for us organising this. The main filters we use here at Warringah Auto Clinic are Ryco, Hengst, Phoenix and Wesfil depending on the make and model of your vehicle. We have used Phoenix oil filters for approximately 5 years now and have used them on passenger cars, commercial fleet cars which have been using this filter from new which currently have just over 200,000kms on the clock with no issues. I use this brand on my own car as well and have never had a issue. As stated on the Phoenix packaging Phoenix meet OEM specifications. I have never had any issues with this particular brand of filter otherwise I simply would not use them as we have a standard and reputation to up hold here at Warringah Auto Clinic. If you would have contacted us we would have been more than happy to pick up your car, clean your tray and fit the filter you were promised which we still are happy to do so.
